Author Biography

Ed L.G. Hermens (DVM) is a General practitioner and Owner of “Helsdingen Veterinary Clinic” where companion animals and horses are treated. He is also manager of VETICARE BV, a company that produces incentives and products for the pharmaceutical industry, does consulting work and acts as advisor for marketing and editing of a magazine for horse owners in The Netherlands.

Willem Back (DVM, Cert. Pract. KNMvD (Equine Practice), PhD, Spec. KNMvD (Equine Surgery), Dipl. ECVS) graduated met genoegen as a DVM from Utrecht University in 1987. Currently, he is assistant professor at the Department of Equine Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University. As staff surgeon he has special interest in lameness and rehabilitation, fracture repair and hoof orthopaedics. He is Past President of the Netherlands Equine Veterinary Association and Founding President of the Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations. For ECVS he served as Chairman of the Large Animal Exam Committee and is currently its President of the Board.
