An Historical Atlas of Kent

Kent has been well served by fine cartographers over the past four centuries, but this exciting work is no mere collection of historic maps. All eighty maps are completely new and original, presenting the history of Kent in a way never previously attempted. Prepared by leading experts, they plot a huge diversity of subject matter, ranging from prehistoric times to the present day - including such contemporary issues as Education and Planning - and each is accompanied by a text which places it in context and reveals a remarkable amount of new research. This major new work of reference is the result of a partnership between the Kent Archaeological Society, Kent County Council and Canterbury Christ Church University College.

David Killingray was born in Kent in 1939 and has lived in the county for most of his life, the last 30 years in Sevenoaks. He is a professor of modern history and has taught courses on English local and regional history focused on south-east England. Terence Lawson has lived in Kent most of his life and is honorary editor of the Kent Archaeological Society.
