Author Biography

Teena Ruark Gorrow is an Associate Professor of Education and Interim Director for the Elementary Education Program in the Department of Teacher Education at Salisbury University in Maryland. She earned her doctorate in Education Policy, Planning, and Administration from the University of Maryland College Park and holds an Advanced Professional Certificate with the State of Maryland in administration, teaching, and school counseling. Dr. Gorrow served 17 years as a public school teacher, assistant principal, principal, central office supervisor of instruction, and district coordinator of special programs. During her eight years as a college professor, she has instructed undergraduate and graduate courses in classroom management, education foundations, and cooperative learning; coordinated the region's professional development schools program; and supervised field-based teacher interns. Dr. Gorrow is a member of Kappa Delta Pi and former Counselor of the Rho Eta Chapter.Susan Marie Muller, Professor of Exercise Science at Salisbury University, is a Certified Health Education Specialist and a Certified Health-Fitness Instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine. She earned her doctorate in Health Education from the University of Maryland College Park and has 26 years of teaching experience. Dr. Muller holds an Advanced Professional Certificate with the State of Maryland in Health and Physical Education, and her work includes program review, curriculum development, and standards revision for the accreditation of teacher preparation programs in School Health Education. Dr. Muller serves as a lead reviewer and auditor of American Alliance for Health Education (AAHE) Specialty Reports for NCATE accreditation and is a member of the Board of Directors for AAHE, the Standards Revision Committee, and the AAHE/NCATE Review Committee.
