Author Biography

Sunderine (Wilson) Temple has been employed at the Old State Capitol in Springfield since shortly after it was opened to the public. As a supervisor, she is now the Site Interpretor and Volunteer Coordinator. She has a deep interest in history, and on several previous occasions has aided her husband with his research on Abraham Lincoln. Her life is sketched in the Dictionary of International Biography, The International Register of Profiles, and Foremost Women of the Twentieth Century. She has traveled widely, both in this Country and Europe, to observe historic sites.Wayne C. Temple is the Chief Deputy Director of the Illinois State Archives. He served as the Research Assistant to Prof. J.G. Randall, ôDean of the Lincoln Scholars.ö He then earned his A.M. and Ph.D degrees under the direction of Prof. Randall and Prof. Richard N. Current at the University of Illinois. He was John Wingate Weeks Professor of History at Lincoln Memorial University where he edited the Lincoln Herald for 15 years. He has authored many articles and eight books on Lincoln. He has lectured widely, including West Point as a General officer, is currently on the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission's Advisory Committee, and has appeared as a guest on the History Channel.
