Summary

Advances and applications of nanosized catalysts

Over the last five years, tremendous advances have been made in heterogeneous catalysis. In particular, catalysts' design from the bulk to nano-scale (1-100 nm), with desirable active sites, has received great attention in current catalysis research with the aim to fill the gap between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis.

This volume focuses on applications of nanosized catalysts. Articles describe characterization, synthesis, and applications in biomass conversion, auto-exhaust purification, selective oxidation/hydrogenation, syngas conversion, and other important reactions. Readers will find examples of catalysts designed to be tunable for specific outcomes, inspiring their research. Scientists and engineers in chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, and chemical engineering will find this volume useful.

Author Biography

Putla Sudarsanam is a Scientist at the Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry Division, CSIR National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL), Pune, India. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry (2015) from the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (Hyderabad, India). Before joining CSIR-NCL, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow at KU Leuven (Belgium, 2017-2019), Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT, Germany, 2017), and RMIT University (Australia, 2014-2016). His research focuses on developing advanced heterogeneous nanosized and singleatom catalysts for CO2 upgrading, syngas conversion, fine chemicals synthesis, and biomass valorization.

Lakhveer Singh works in the Department of Environmental Science at SRM-University Amaravati. Earlier, he worked as an Associate Professor at University Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia and as post-doctoral researcher at Oregon State University, Corvallis, USA. After obtaining his PhD from University Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia in 2013. His major areas of research expertise are Energy production, Bioelectrochemical Systems, Wastewater Treatment, and Nanomaterial synthesis for sustainable applications. Dr. Singh has developed and upscaled a hybrid bioelectrochemical system that contains highly efficient bacteria and novel cloth electrode assemblies with low-cost cathodes for hydrogen production from wastewater and lignocellulosic biomass. He has 3 patents to his credit, has edited 7 books (ACS, Elsevier, CRC etc.), published over 70 scientific papers (>1700 citations; hindex 24) and 15 book chapters. Singh has supervised 05 Ph.D. and has completed more than 10 R&D projects. He is a member of scientific communities like International Water Association (IWA) and Asian Council of Science Editors (ACSE).
