Summary

The progress in the research in the field of wireless communications has recently generated significant results so that there is a need to update the existing text of the second edition. The concept of the book will be organized within the framework of wireless access to future internet, so that a number of topics above physical layer will be added. The major additions to the book will be five new chapters incorporated within the existing text in an appropriate way.The new edition will be fully updated to incorporate these new results. Additions include five new chapters on self-healing mechanisms; biologically inspired paradigms; advanced routing and network coding; relaying; and game theory. Other topics include space time coding, adaptive modulation and coding, multiuser communication, and channel estimation and equalization.

Author Biography

Savo Glisic, Professor of Telecommunications, University of Oulu, Finland
Professor Glisic obtained his PhD from Cranfield Institute of Technology, UK, before pursuing post doctoral studies at the University of California at San Diego, USA. His areas of interest include radio resource management in wireless mobile IP networks, network management, symbol synchronization in digital communications, automatic decision threshold level control (ADTLC) and frequency hopping modulation for wireless ad hoc networks. He has vast international experience in the field of telecommunications and has published prolifically on the subject, including three previous books with Wiley.
