B.B. Alston vive en Carolina del Sur, Estados Unidos, y empezó a escribir en el instituto para entretener a sus compañeros de clase. Acababan de aceptarlo en un programa de posgrado en Biomedicina cuando una obra que había presentado por casualidad a un concurso se convirtió en el inicio de su carrera como novelista y en el origen de Amari y los hermanos de la noche. Ahora, cuando no está escribiendo se dedica a comer demasiadas chuches y a explorar caminos rurales para descubrir a dónde conducen.
