Summary

Two-thirds of American adults feel they "can't afford to be sick." Who can, when we spend $2 trillion a year on healthcare? Healthcare is about money, how much we will spend for it, where the money comes from, and who controls it. J. Patrick Rooney and Dan Perrin briefly highlight the major pitfalls of the current American healthcare system and show why, if left to its own devices, healthcare costs will soon demolish American wallets everywhere. However, contrary to the increasingly popular national health plan, the only "make sense" alternative is to bring the self-interest of the American consumers into the purchase of healthcare. With Health Savings Accounts and family deductibles of $2,000 to $2,500 the insured family's spending is reduced by as much as the deductible. For the uninsured, the authors propose that government should stand in place of an employer to pay part of the cost of health insurance, and go on to explain their brilliant plan for how to effectively achieve these goals and finally begin to reduce the rapidly increasing upward trend of healthcare costs. Who better to learn from on how to reduce the cost of your healthcare than the father of Health Savings Accounts, and the leading expert in the field, J. Patrick Rooney and Dan Perrin?
