Author Biography

Gene Anderson is Associate Professor of Music Theory and Director of Bands at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia William Bauer is an Assistant Professor of Music at Rutgers University in Newark Geoffrey L. Collier is currently Assistant Professor of Psychology at South Carolina State University James Lincoln Collier has written extensively on jazz history Tim Dean-Lewis, jazz musician and theoretician, was born in Essex, England, and raised in New Jersey. Since his return to the U.K., he has lectured at the University of Brighton Armen Donelian is on the faculty of the Mannes-New School Jazz Program, William Paterson State College, and the Manhattan School of Music Patrick C. Dorian is a member of the music department of East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania Max Harrison for many years worked in classical music publishing in London as an editor, arranger and orchestrator, but writing about music finally took over James Kurzdorfer currently teaches music theory, music appreciation, and jazz ensemble at Villa Maria College of Buffalo Steve Larson is Associate Professor of Music Theory at the University of Oregon David Liebman, jazz saxophonist, composer and educator, has played with Miles Davis and Elvin Jones as well as leading his own groups Steven Strunk is a composer and Professor of Music at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC Keith Waters is a jazz pianist who has recorded and performed throughout the United States, Europe, and in Russia
