Summary

Arab Women's Management and Leadership explores the life-stories of 22 pioneer Arab women who have forged their path to management and leadership in education and welfare, overcoming challenges imposed by a patriarchal society that sees female leadership as a threat. This revolutionary volume traces sources of their success and identifies their coping strategies. The women's stories reveal their perceptions of a rich and multi-faceted social world, relating to private, professional and public spheres. These stories enrich existing scholarship by illuminating Arab women managers' perspectives, a topic largely overlooked in current knowledge formation concerning women in leadership and management.
