Author Biography

Terry Patterson is a licensed architect, a professor of architecture at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, and the author of several respected books in the field. He has 34 years of professional and teaching experience. He is the author of Illustrated 2000 Building Code Handbook (McGraw-Hill); Frank Lloyd Wright and the Meaning of Materials (Van Nostrand Reinhold); Construction Materials for Architects and Designers (Prentice-Hall); and co-author of Architectural Drawing and Design (Macmillan). He also wrote the Student Workbook and Instructor's Manual for Van Nostrand Reinhold's Construction: Principles, Materials, and Methods, 6thed. He is a professional member of Building Officials & Code Administrators International, Inc. and holds a National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) certificate. Always thorough in his research, he based this current book not only on his own extensive experience, but also on material from architects, engineers, contractors, construction managers, code officials, government agencies, suppliers, and manufacturers from all 50 states.
