Author Biography

Gene Roehlkepartain is Vice President of Research and Development at Search Institute. Together with a team of quantitative and qualitative researchers, he leads a wide range of initiatives that focus on discovering what young people need to succeed in their families, schools, and communities. Among his recent projects is the study Don’t Forget the Families: The missing piece in America’s effort to help all children succeed. Since joining Search Institute almost 25 years ago, Gene has contributed to Search Institute’s groundbreaking work on developmental relationships, developmental assets, youth thriving, and community engagement with youth. He has expertise in positive youth development, family strengths, community engagement, service-learning, and international youth development. Gene is author, co-author, or editor of more than 200 publications, including 30 books and reports. He speaks and leads workshops nationally and internationally. He is the primary creator of ParentFurther.com, Search Institute’s online resource for families.
