Author Biography

Organist, harpsichordist, violinist, and violist Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) was among the greatest of Baroque composers. Excelling in sacred and secular music alike, he created enduring works of intellectual, technical, and emotional power.
Sir Donald Francis Tovey was a British music analyst, musicologist, critic, composer, conductor, and pianist who specialized in the works of Bach and Beethoven.
András Schiff is a world-famous pianist, a major Bach interpreter, and an expert on Tovey's work.
