Summary

We think of New Jersey as being covered in motorways and industrial estates, but this is defiantly not the case! Called the Garden State by those who live there the county is hone to an extraordinary variety of riches for visitors to wonder at: scenic lake country, preserved woodland forests, white-sand beaches on the Atlantic; battlefields from the War of Independence; intriguing corners like Hoboken, Newark, and Paterson steeped in history; the largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi, stretching from the adventurous great swamp to the Pine Barrens... Whether planning a day trip, a weekend, looking for unusual destinations, or time in the Great Outdoors, this book takes the reader away form the frenetic, bustling city and busy turnpikes to the true heart of this largely unknown, unspoilt country.
