Author Biography

Wayne Dickert was a canoeist in the C2 category in the 1996 Olympics and a national whitewater canoe champion. He is currently the manager of instruction for the Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson City, North Carolina, and serves on the American Canoe Association's Safety, Education, and Instruction Committee Photographer Skip Brown shoots outdoor sports and recreation for books and magazines. He is a Class V paddler, advanced-rated hang glider pilot, and accomplished windsurfer, snowboarder, and mountain biker. He lives on the Potomac River in Maryland with his wife and son Taina Litwak has been working as an illustrator for 23 years. Her work has appeared in over 150 publications, including popular periodicals, journals, and textbooks
