Excerpts

Munich is a Millionendorf--'a village with a million people'. Locals really do wear Lederhosen and feathered hats and even wealthy, style-conscious Muncheners sport chic versions of Bavarian Tracht (folk costume). Bavarian beer reigns supreme and hamburgers, sushi and fajitas, though welcome, are not about to replace the local Schweinhax'n (pork knuckle) and Weisswurst (veal sausage). The pace is slow for a major city and only the tourists seem to be in a hurry.
