Summary

The first visit to the dry lakes for anyone who loves to drive fast and hear the throaty roars of an engine is an aweinspiring experience. The lakes are holy ground sown with memories of legendary racers such as Wally Parks, Ak Miller, and Alex Xydias. In The Birth of Hot Rodding, Don Cox's color photographs and Robert Genat's faithful prose transport the reader to the post-war era when hot rodders were cocky, fearless, and craved speed. Book jacket.
