Author Biography

Richard Baker, author of five Forgotten RealmsR novels including the New York Times best-seller Condemnation, has written or contributed to more than fifty game products. Don Bassingthwaite lives in Toronto, Ontario. He shares a home with his partner, a wide assortment of books and games, and a ridiculously well-stocked spice cupboard. He is the author of The Yellow Silk and the forthcoming EberronTM novel The Binding Stone. Last year, Edward Bolme released the Forgotten Realms novel The Alabaster Staff. The short story in this anthology marks his second visit to the Realms. It will also likely be his last appearance for a while, as he is slated to write books for the upcoming Eberron line. He lives a happy life, because basically there's no reason not to. Richard Lee Byers is the author of over twenty fantasy and horror novels, including The Shattered Mask, The Black Bouquet, Dissolution, and The Rage, the first volume in The Year of Rogue Dragons. The Rite, the second novel in the trilogy, will be released in January 2005. Elaine Cunningham has published sixteen fantasy novels and twenty-two short stories. Her contribution herein to the contrary, she always bets on the dragon to win or place. Ed Greenwood is the creator of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting and the author or co-author of around a hundred and seventy books (he long ago lost count), most recently the Realms novel Elminster's Daughter and The Silent House (his fifth Aglirta novel) from Tor Books. A native of Ontario, Canada, he lives in an old farmhouse crammed with books and games, and keeps busy producing more books and games. Dave Gross is a story addict living in the Seattle region, where he hustles interviews, articles, and the occasional hit of fiction in exchange for books and movie passes. His rap sheet includes, among other offenses, The Halls of Stormweather, Black Wolf, Lord of Stormweather, and the upcoming Mistress of the Night (with Don Bassingthwaite, December 2004). Recently he entered rehab as editor-in-chief of Amazing Stories. Paul S. Kemp is the author of the Erevis Cale Trilogy and Resurrection, the sixth and final book in R.A. Salvatore's War of the Spider Queen series (April 2005). He lives in Michigan with his wife Jennifer, A, B, and their numerous pets. Jess Lebow lives and works in rainy Seattle. He'd very much like to see the sun, but he's not holding out much hope. Currently, he's working on Master of Chains, a Forgotten Realms novel due out in September 2005. Thomas M. Reid-along with wife Teresa and sons Aidan, Galen, and Quinton-lives in the Texas Hill Country. Though he should usually be writing fiction, Thomas spends most of his days keeping his youngest child from climbing on the furniture and tormenting the two family cats. Check out Thomas's website, www.thomasmreid.com, for his latest book news. Bob was born. He writes books. He has a great family. Lisa Smedman has been doing game design and writing fiction for TSR, then Wizards of the Coast since 1987. She is the author of the Forgotten Realms novels Heirs of Prophecy, Venom's Taste, and the New York Times best-seller Extinction, as well as five novels in the ShadowrunR series. She also works as a newspaper editor and is an avid tabletop miniatures wargamer. Keith Francis Strohm is the current Vice President of Paizo Publishing, LLC, the publisher of Dragon and Dungeon magazines. Previous to that, he was the Vice President of PokemonR, the Director of the Roleplaying and Miniatures categories, and the Brand Manager for Dungeons and DragonsR-all at Wizards of the Coast. He is the author of the GreyhawkR novel The Tomb of Horrors. This is his third short story for the Forgotten Realms. When not wrestling sharks or octopus, Voronica Whitney-Robinson likes to turn every light in the house off and watch scary movies all night. She's also been known to ride her motorcycle in the dark with the headlight turned off, just to make her husband nervous.
