Summary

The Blackstone's Police Investigators' Manual and Workbook 2014 are the only official study texts for the National Investigators' Exam (NIE) which is taken as part of Phase 1 of the Initial Crime Investigators' Development Programme. This Pack is fully revised for the 2014 NIE syllabus and contains the latest information relevant to the role of a trainee investigator in England and Wales.

The Blackstone's Police Investigators' Manual 2014 is the only official study text for the National Investigators' Exam (NIE), which is taken as part of Phase 1 of the Initial Crime Investigators' Development Programme. Based on the bestselling Blackstone's Police Manuals, it provides all the legal information which is relevant to the role of a trainee investigator, namely in the areas of Evidence, Property Offences, Assaults, Drugs, Firearms & Gun Crime, and Sexual Offences. It also covers the relevant PACE Codes of Practice, with chapters incorporating the relevant Code with Keynotes offering practical advice and examples, and features new material on counter-terrorism legislation. For 2014, there are new chapters covering the Immigration Act 1971 and the Customs & Excise Management Act 1979 for investigators within immigration, customs and SOCA/National Crime Agency.

The Blackstone's Police Investigators' Workbook 2014 takes the trainee investigator through each of the topics relevant to the examination. It contains many practical exercises, case studies and multiple choice questions to help students prepare for the NIE. The book also contains useful cross references to the Manual in the answers sections, so students can check their understanding of the content.

Now in its fifteenth edition, this popular set contains the latest legislation and case law relevant to the 2014 NIE, including the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012, the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, the Criminal Procedure Rules 2012, the Terrorism Act 2000, as well as revised PACE Codes C, G and H.
