Summary

The Student Police Officer Handbook is a key text for new student police officers undergoing their initial police training and provides all the underpinning subject matter and skills development materials for the Initial Police Learning and Development Programme (IPLDP). The book is very practical and contains many useful examples and learning aids including flowcharts and checklists. Author Biography


Dr Robin Bryant is Head of Department of Crime & Policing Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University. Robin is responsible for approximately 1000 students based within the Department studying a variety of crime and policing related courses. He was jointly responsible, with Kent Police, for establishing an innovative Foundation Degree in Policing that forms the basis of initial police training in Kent. He is an External Examiner for a number of universities in the UK that offer programmes in Policing and Criminology. In 2005 he was the international representative on the panel undertaking the evaluation of policing programmes in Estonia. Robin has also given evidence as an 'Expert Witness' in cases involving fatal falls from height (using his knowledge of the mathematical modelling of body fall).
