Excerpts

A web search for the term "selfless living" reveals no less than 1,140,000 sites available for your assistance! What a confusing assortment of techniques, all supposedly helping a person to shed their own skin! Philosophies abound on how to get rid of self. Many, if not most of these web sites teach New Age, Hindu, and Buddhist practices, which are gaining popularity among young people of America today. Before we bash this wave of untraditional teaching coming into America, we must realize that young people of America are crying out for answers to the question, "Is there more to life than me?" The question is extremely valid and must not be criticized. Neither should the search for answers to the question. The problem is that Jesus Christ, as presented by the institutionalized church of today, has left young people yawning with boredom. Christianity has become a me-centered religion. To young people, churches often appear to be so self-serving. Young people are saying, "If the church is all about serving itself, give me something else. If Jesus is all about me, then I will look elsewhere for life's bigger picture."
