Summary

From the founder of CareerBuilder.com comes a guide not only about how to get a job, but how to develop a career. Throughout his career, Rob McGovern has employed and mentored hundreds of young professionals. In Bring Your "A" Game, he shares the ten common attributes all high-achievers bring to their career. His sound advice describes how to acquire these critical building blocks and develop the time-tested workplace skills needed to get ahead. Bring Your "A" Game building blocks include: - Developing a career plan - Being coachable - Communicating well - Mastering the easy stuff - Having action-oriented curiosity - Solving problems resourcefully - Organizational survival skills From the book Consider this: a human life is about 26,000 days. If you think that sounds like a small number, bear in mind that a forty-five-year career works out to only about 10,000 days. How you plan and execute a strategy to maximize these precious days will determine whether you'll achieve early retirement at age fifty, or will be working to supplement your Social Security at seventy. Retirement in Boca or Baltimore, funding your child's college education or saddling him with a pile of student loans-it will all come down to the quality of your career plan.
