The new Hanoverian dynasty that came to power with the accession of George I in 1714 inherited the largest navy in the world. Author Biography

Riff Winfield has made a lifetime's study of the sailing warship. He is author of The 50-Gun Ship and was responsible for bringing to fruition David Lyon's monumental The Sail and Steam Navy List  after the latter's intimely death.
