Summary

Charlie's day of play on a Cape Cod beach turns into an imagination extravaganza. Through Charlie's hard work creating a sand castle, he befriends "Hermie", a hermit crab that floated into his moat. At the end of the day, Charlie struggles to leave his new friend behind but learns a valuable lesson about respecting the habitats that are required for the survival of the world's incredible creatures. This book combines a shared experience of imaginary play with some food for thought about respecting animals.

The number "143" is hidden on each page for an added level of engagement. The number 143 is a family code meaning "I love you". The 143 code can be traced back to 1860 at Minot's Ledge Lighthouse which is located one mile off the coast of Cohassett, MA. It still blinks the romantic code to this very day!
