Summary

Carlos Ferrater Lambarri was born in 1944 in Barcelona, where he graduated inrchitecture from the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura in 1971. Sincehen he has worked as a designer in a professional studio, the architect Joanuibernau becoming an associate in 1993. In 2001 he was appointed Professorf the Reale Academia Catalana de Belles Artes de Sant Jordi. His majorealizations include the residential complex of S. Just Desvern in Barcelona,he extension project for Venice Cemetery and the "Rey Juan Carlos I" hoteln Barcelona. His originality lies in his art of combining modernism witharticular features of local architecture. Ferrater's buildings, contrastingith urban realities, highlight the Mediterranean lifestyle. His latestesigns, like the Impiva (Instituto de la pequena y mediana empresa dealencia) Technology Research Centre at Castellon de la Plana, the Arrugailm Studios in Barcelona and the Congress Centre of Catalunia, reveal a newaturity in his prolific and increasingly reflective career.
