Author Biography

Shani Mootoo was born in Ireland and grew up in Trinidad. Her writing has appeared in many anthologies, and her first collections of short fiction, <i>Out On Main Street</i>, was published to enthusiastic reviews in 1993. She is also a multimedia visual artist and video-maker whose paintings and photo-based works have been exhibited internationally. She is currently a contributing editor for CBC Radio’s “This Morning.”<br><br><i>Cereus Blooms at Night</i> is her much acclaimed first novel. It has been published in the U.S., the U.K., Holland, and Germany, as well as other countries.<br><br>Shani Mootoo divides her time between Vancouver, B.C., and New York City. She is at work on her next novel.
