Tom McEvoy is the 1983 World Champion of Poker, rarified territory occupied by only about two dozen players. Considered one of the greats in tournament play, he has won millions of dollars playing no-limit and pot-limit hold'em in cash games and major tournaments around the world. He is the author of Tournament Poker, "one of the most important poker books of all time" according to Gamblers Book Club. McEvoy is the co-author of ten other titles including Championship No-Limit & Pot-Limit Hold'em, Championship Stud, Championship Omaha and Championship Hold'em. Dr. Max Stern won the Omaha high-low split tournament at the 1995 World Series of Poker. He followed that success by winning two gold bracelets at the 1997 Series, first in the seven-card high-low split, followed by a win in the no-limit hold'em tournament. Stern is a member of the famous Costa Rican Connections, a close-knit group of top players who regularly meet to discuss and analyze how to improve their skills at poker. Linda Johnson is the publisher of Card Player magazine and champion poker player. She won the 1997 razz championship at the World Series of Poker. Today, Card Player is the premier magazine of poker.
