En 1989 a paru la version francaise de cette edition, due au soin talentueux de Madeleine Tyssens. Les medievistes francais ont salue d'une seule voix les qualites de l'ouvrage. Aujourd'hui reparait l'edition du texte critique de la version O avec ses variantes, enrichie de l'ample introduction et de l'index des noms propres de Cesare Segre, ainsi que d'un glossaire redige par Bernard Guidot. Ce faisant, cette edition est un remarquable instrument d'enseignement pour decouvrir ou redecouvrir la Chanson de Roland.
