About This Book

Chemistry: Atoms First 2e

Chemistry: Atoms First 2e is a comprehensive and peer-reviewed introductory textbook designed for two-semester general chemistry courses. This book is a collaborative effort between OpenStax and the University of Connecticut and UConn Undergraduate Student Government Association. It's an adaptation of the OpenStax Chemistry text, reordered to fit an "atoms first" approach, which introduces atomic and molecular structure earlier than traditional methods. This approach helps students acclimate to the study of chemistry by delaying the introduction of more abstract material like stoichiometry, allowing them to build a solid foundation in quantitative principles.

Who Uses It?

Primarily, this book is used by students and instructors in introductory general chemistry courses at the college and university levels. It's also a valuable resource for anyone interested in understanding the basics of chemistry, including professionals looking to refresh their knowledge or expand their understanding of chemical principles.

History and Editions
