Summary

Here is a delightful look at childhood, written by master poet and storyteller Robert Louis Stevenson. In this collection of sixty-six poems, Stevenson recalls the joys of his childhood, from sailing boats down a river, to waiting for the lamplighter, to sailing off to foreign lands in his imagination. Tasha Tudor's watercolor paintings evoke a simpler time in the past, and celebrate two of the things she loves most -- children and nature. Her talents are the perfect match for these inspiring poems, making this a handsome gift edition that will be cherished by families for generations.

Author Biography

Thomas Kinkade is a world-renowned artist, aptly named the Painter of Light for the golden tones that dance across his canvases. His artistic excellence has earned him numerous awards, including 1995-1997 Graphic Artist of the Year, 1992-1997 Lithograph of the Year, 1994 Artist of the Year from the National Association of Limited Edition Dealers, and 1995 Collector Editions Award of Excellence. Robert Louis Stevenson has written some of the world's best-loved poems and novels. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1850, this prolific author suffered ill health for the majority of his life. When he was too weak even to hold a pen, he dictated A Child's Garden of Verses to his stepson, immortalizing many of his family members and early experiences in poetry. His works remain extremely popular today, having been reprinted in various forms and even made into successful movies.
