Summary

These days, practically all of human knowledge is within reach with just three clicks online. But how do we acquire that knowledge? It took hundreds or even thousands of years to understand what now seems evident to us. Knowledge is an adventure, an extraordinary odyssey whose details are laid out in this collection. Nowadays, everyone knows where children come from. However, this is a fairly recent discovery. In the 17th century, for instance, it was still believed that a woman could give birth to a crab or that there was baby pollen floating in the air. One scientist even thought to put pants on toads to dispel the mystery of fertilization, which wasn’t resolved until the late 19th century.
