Summary

These days, practically all of human knowledge is within reach with just three clicks online. But how do we acquire that knowledge? It took hundreds or even thousands of years to understand what now seems evident to us. Knowledge is an adventure, an extraordinary odyssey whose details are laid out in this collection. What does the universe look like? Over time, this question has yielded diverse and contradictory responses. The universe was round, then flat, halved, and rejoined. It had a center, then several, then none; it was infinite, then finite, then infinite again. Now beliefs have given way to science, but the universe is forever mysterious.
