Summary

These days, practically all of human knowledge is within reach with just three clicks online. But how do we acquire that knowledge? It took hundreds or even thousands of years to understand what now seems evident to us. Knowledge is an adventure, an extraordinary odyssey whose details are laid out in this collection. Apes are our cousins, and we have more in common with them than we realize. It was quite a scandal when this family history was revealed in the mid-19th century! In the West, the idea of our evolution was unacceptable. But fossil after fossil and gene after gene have confirmed our common origin with other great apes, and nearly everyone has come to accept it.
