Summary

When environmental scientist Summer Rayne Oakes moved to Brooklyn from Pennsylvania, she knew that bringing nature inside her home was the only way to prevent losing her head. So she found plants on the street side, in forgotten boxes, at farmers' markets, and in local garden stores; and she gave them a new home in her apartment, which she soon turned into a veritable miniature jungle. Now with this book, Summer shares her knowledge of plant care in urban settings in a definitive guide that will help you learn to: observe the flowers and vegetation around you, even the one that sprouts bravely through the cracked pavement; see the world from the perspective of a plant, exchanging modern consumerism for sustainability; and identify the appropriate species for your home and create an environment similar to their natural habitat.
