Three-dimensional art forms a far more significant part of the Cobra oeuvre than is generally recognised. The relative obscurity in which this aspect has languished over the years is due, more than any other factor, to the brilliant international reputation that leading Cobra lights, such as Karel Appel, Asger Jorn and Pierre Alechinsky acquired in the late 1950s with works on canvas and paper.
This is reason enough to take a closer look at the three)dimensional work of these Cobra artists, to re-evaluate the enormous amount of material available and explore new perspectives.
