Summary

This is the most comprehensive Tonka Fire & Rescue Guide written to date. The author has been collecting, researching and documenting Tonka toys for almost 30 years. A volunteer Fire & Rescue member for ten years adds to his love and history of fire trucks. Identification picture guides including decal, ladder, hoses, hydrants, wheels, toy front and rear views, make toy identification a simple task! Chapters showing colorful pictures of shipping boxes, Tiny Tonka's, Mini Tonka's, Regular series Rescue Vehicles, Pumpers, Aerial Ladder, and Regular sets make up the bulk of the guide showing detailed pictures of every fire and rescue toy manufactured by Tonka from 1954-1980. Additional chapters on Japan and New Zealand manufactured Tonka Fire & Rescue toys are for the advanced collectors who love the hunt of finding foreign made toys. The Smokey Bear chapter is the most comprehensive listing of these limited production toys detailing every set made. Private Label, Tonka employee, Promotional items, Performance awards, and a collection of original Tonka point of sale and store signs are all from the authors personal collection.
