Lew Travis is a seventy two year old investigative reporter who lives in Sienna, a small town in the Sierra Nevada foothills. He becomes involved in looking into the suspicious death of a prominent local attorney, with whom he had an unpleasant history, and soon finds himself in trouble with a brutal biker and a gorgeous femme fatale less than one third his age. This addictive page turner not only deals out the suspense nonstop, but also offers a number of fascinating insights into the region, particularly with regard to the Native Americans who originally inhabited the land. At the conclusion of this excellent detective novel, the reader will be looking for more, which is fortunately forthcoming soon in the second Lew Travis mystery, "Hell Hath No Fury".
