Sixteen-year-old Kinny O'Neil thinks she's landed the job of a lifetime as the assistant to the director of a play at the famed Stratford Festival, but the dream rapidly becomes a nightmare.
The play they're staging is Macbeth, and it seems to live up to its reputation as a cursed play: the director is acting strangely, the cast members are hostile, and a woman is killed in a freak accident on the very first day of rehearsal. To top matters off, an antique mirror she finds to use as a prop seems to have a malevolent power over Kinny and her new friend Lucas -- Kinny sees an old hag in it, and Lucas is convinced he sees the real King Macbeth. Kinny and Lucas struggle to protect each other as the clock ticks and the faces in the mirror race toward a confrontation that could destroy them all.
