Author Biography

Charles D. Cole serves as the Lucille S. Beeson Professor of Law and Director of International Programs for the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama. Professor Cole has served as a professor of law at Samford University in excess of thirty years. His educational accomplishments include a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University, a J.D. degree, cum laude, from Cumberland School of Law, and an LL.M. degree from New York University Graduate School of Law. During Professor Cole's professional career, he has served as the Administrative Director of the Courts, Commonwealth of Kentucky and the Director, Southern Regional Office of the National Center for State Courts, Williamsburg, Virginia. He has also served, during his law teaching career, as the director of numerous committees relating to judicial reform, judicial planning and constitutional reform. Professor Cole is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, United States Court of International Trade, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and the Alabama Supreme Court, as a member of the Alabama State Bar Association. Professor Cole frequently lectures in South America concerning topics relating primarily to constitutional law. He has written over forty articles and books relating to legal matters.
