Summary

Competition Law of the EU and UK7e builds on the strengths of Mark Furse's original textbook to provide an engaging and approachable introduction to competition law. It offers up-to-date and comprehensive coverage of the most recent cases and legislative changes. Taking a comparative look at the links and differences between EU and UK law, fundamental economic concepts which underpin the subject are also clearly explained. The changes introduced by the Treaty of Lisbon and the implications of the recent economic crisis are highlighted throughout the book. This edition contains new features, including a chapter on state aid, a revised focus on procedural aspects (including an analysis of the White Paper on Damages and the first criminal conviction for breach of competition law in the UK), an in-depth look at the review of Article 102 TFEU, a study of the new UK Merger Guidelines, and an account of the key changes of the new EU block exemption for vertical agreements. The inclusion of detailed case summaries, enhanced flow charts, and other useful visual aids contribute towards providing a stimulating approach to competition law, making it an ideal introduction to the subject for undergraduates and postgraduates new to this area of the law. Online Resource Centre This book is accompanied by an Online Resource Centre, which provides regular updates to the law, along with web links, a table of OFT decisions, and student MCQs.
