Summary

A biography on Acamedy Award-winning director Akira Kurosawa, as told by his screenwriter and producer Shinobu Hashimoto. This book should be shelved in the non-fiction and media sections as it will appeal to those who have been inspired by his works throughout the decades.

Akira Kurosawa has been regarded as one of the most important and influential filmmakers in the history of cinema, and one man stood beside him for most of his illustrious career - his screenwriter and collabrator Shinobu Hashimoto. In Compound Cinematics, Hashimoto pulls back the camera and reveals the actual process of how such global hits as The Seven Samura, To Live and Roshamon were made from within the writer's studio to the very sets of Kagemusha and Ran.
