Carla Jackie Sampson, PhD, MBA, FACHE, is clinical associate professor and director of the Health Policy and Management Program and the online Master of Health Administration Program at New York University’ s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Dr. Sampson is coeditor of Human Resources in Healthcare: Managing for Success, 5th ed. (Health Administration Press, 2021). She also serves as editor of the quarterly publication Frontiers of Health Services Management. Bruce J. Fried, PhD, is professor emeritus in the Department of Health Policy and Management in the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he served as director of master’ s degree programs for more than 20 years. Dr. Fried has written numerous journal articles, commentaries, books, and book chapters. He is coeditor of World Health Systems: Challenges and Perspectives, 2nd ed. (Health Administration Press, 2012) and Human Resources in Healthcare: Managing for Success, 5th ed. (Health Administration Press, 2021).
