Summary

Ethan Randall seemingly has a perfect life. Girls are crazy about him; all the guys want to be his friend-what more could a teenage boy want? Ethan kept on shuffling, constantly reminding himself how close to safety they were, but there was another crack behind them. Then, they heard thumps that could only be made by an incredibly heavy person. It sounded as if whoever made these steps was targeting them and closing in one them as if they were prey. All of a sudden, Ethan plummeted into a heap of dirt and coughed roughly, trying to rush back up. They heard a loud snarl from behind them that sounded like a strapping predator. Ethan grabbed his switchblade from his back pocket that he always carried with him, and was pre-pared to use it. Anthony tore a rusty iron bar from the sandbox and held it close, ready to stand by Ethan's side. For a while, they only heard rustles and creaks but every time they tried to get up and move, something would start to snarl, making them shoot back to the ground and freeze. Suddenly, Ethan was pinned to the ground by a gigantic, wolf-like creature. Its spine was bulging out, and its eyes were the color of Harvard crimson. They stood out along with the fangs that looked sharp enough to pierce human flesh without the slightest amount of effort.
