Author Biography

Pierre Auguste Renoir (1841–1919) was a prolific French artist who, together with his schoolmates Claude Monet and Alfred Sisley, founded the Impressionist movement. Later in his career, Renoir developed a more structured approach to painting that was inspired by the Italian Renaissance masters. His most famous works are celebrated for their soulful depictions of Parisian society, domestic scenes, nudes, and dancers.
