Author Biography

Yasunari Kawabata is best known for his novels Snow Country, The Sound of the Mountain, and Thousand Cranes. He was the first Japanese writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature (1968) and was a mentor of Yukio Mishima J. Martin Holman's previous translations of Yasunari Kawabata are Palm-of-the-Hand Stories and The Old Capital. He lives in Berea, Kentucky
