Summary

The sea wall at Dawlish is one of the most picturesque stretches of the railway network and has always been a popular site for railway enthusiasts and photographers for many generations. This new book is designed as a follow-up to The Railways at Dawlish colour album published in May 2007 and will cover the same basic geographic area between Exeter and Newton Abbot, but with the most coverage on the section of railway between Starcross and Bishopsteignton. The book includes more details about the route, the surrounding area, the trains, operations and the railway's development over the years. Concentrating mainly on the present day scene, it also includes older monochrome photographs with drawings and maps, showing how this popular route has evolved, including details about the stations, lineside structures and signalling. The book has over 190 mono and colour illustrations, plus some older etchings of the period and a few non-railway pictures of the area, but associated with sea wall transport to give a complete picture of this famous piece of the railway.
