In a country that is already poverty stricken, the earthquake created even more havoc. Medical and nonmedical missionaries from all over the world rushed to their aid in the weeks and months following the earthquake. The Day the Earth Moved Haitishows the life of the Haitians both before and after the earthquake. It takes you through the devastation with interviews with the missionaries, articles from the doctors who served, photographs of Port-au-Prince, and poetry from those unable to go to Haiti directly. What these stories will tell you is that in spite of all the suffering and lack in Haiti, the Haitians are a people of hope. Their stories will encourage and inspire you even as they move your heart.All the proceeds from The Day the Earth Moved Haitiwill go to three organizations that deal directly with helping the people of Haiti: Hope for Haiti Foundation, Compassion Weavers, and the Ryan Epps Children's Home.

Author Biography

Elaine M. Hughes, Christina L. Ruotolo, Elizabeth B. Thompson, Lynne G. Wigent, and Patricia J. Koenig comprise Critique It For Me Writers Guild. Unable to join a mission team and travel to Haiti themselves, they chose to use their gifts of writing to help the people of Haiti. They reside in eastern North Carolina.
