Summary

Decking Has Become one of the best ways of creating a stunning feature in a large garden and maximizing space in a small garden. Its popularity is illustrated by the fact that you can now visit your local garden centre and buy ready-made decking panels. Alternatively, you may want to build a more elaborate, custom-made deck, in which case builders' merchants are an invaluable source of information on appropriate materials to use. Whatever size of deck you decide to install, the end result will become an essential part of your garden landscape. This detailed and comprehensive guide covers all aspects of laying your own deck, providing all the information you need to construct a safe, sturdy platform that will give pleasure for years to come. Advice on basic planning techniques and a selection of materials is followed by an easy-reference 'Projects' section. This contains six complete decking projects for the reader to choose from. Every stage of the job is shown in detailed step-by-step pictures, accompanied by jargon-free text. Whether you are planning to install a simple deck to allow alfresco dining or considering an advanced platform to cover a water feature, there is no doubt that you will gain immense satisfaction from the completed project. This invaluable book aims to provide you with the inspiration, detailed guidance and technical know-how needed to build the right kind of deck for your garden, with confidence. Book jacket.
