Summary

THE DEEPER YIELDING is a series of psychological essays, arranged in three volumes of each twelve essays, so as to artfully weave a trilogy in form of a pamphlet, an almost forgotten art form created by Renaissance writers in Germany and Italy. The subject is love, the tender erotic love of children and adolescents, not as an obsession and exclusive fixation, but as an add-on to any love map, as an extension of poetic and aesthetic feelings of intelligent and cultivated men and women. The intrinsic specialness of the pamphlet is that the text is actually composed like a song or musical performance in a way that comes over like a chant or hymn. Originally, pamphlets were performed, recited, declaimed. While the content of the book is scientific, it doesn't make the appearance of a treatise; it could be one, if only the author had wanted it so.The idea of this unusual book as well as the titles and content of each volume were communicated to the author by a spirit, in a dream, whereupon he wrote the whole set of 36 essays within a few weeks. The dream spirit was a female character, actually a psychiatrist or psychoanalyst. The author remembers to have been sitting in her office, in that lucid dream vision, when she gave him detailed instructions how to write the book. The author followed the instructions to the point, and the present book is the result. The author consider the trilogy as one of the best books he has written.
