What is included with this book?

Summary

This fully revised new edition of the bestseller combines the advantages of a color atlas with those of a concise textbook, and details the essential features of all but the very rarest skin diseases. The book provides the definition of each disease/disorder followed by clinical features, epidemiology, differential diagnosis, investigations and special points. Every opportunity is taken to illustrate variations in conditions that occur with age or racial group. The second edition now features treatment and management for each disease and disorder and expanded or new sections for over 40 conditions, plus 100 new clinical color photographs.A Colour Handbook of Dermatologywill appeal to a wide range of reader, including dermatologists in practice and training; post-registration trainees in acute medicine; general practitioners; specialist nurses; and senior medical students.

Excerpts

Stuart Robertson and I had hoped that, if we omitted treatment from this little book, then it would never need to be revised. We had underestimated the devotion of ourreadership to the cause of making patients better. Giving in eventually to the pleas ofour publisher, our only stipulation was that we would need the help of a third editor. And who better, we thought, than Sarah Wakelin, already an experienced authorin this field? At the same time as this wholesale improvement, the opportunity was taken tocorrect deficiencies in the coverage of skin disorders, including HIV infection, whilethoroughly revising the original text and illustrations. More than a hundred newillustrations have thus been incorporated, provided very largely by theindefatigable Stuart Robertson. The result is an even more useful book than before, one that will be a dependableguide to those starting out on dermatological training, whether doctors or nurses, aswell as to more experienced health professionals in other disciplines, includinggeneral practice and occupational health.I thank both my fellow editors for working with me so attentively to breathe new lifeinto the Colour Handbook.RICHARD J G RYCROFT
